Gauteng Legislature convenes an education summit to address issues of teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, bullying and poor learner performance in Gauteng Schools.
On the 02nd of February 2013, the Gauteng Legislature's portfolio committee on education will convene a summit to try and come up with a plan to curb bullying, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and encourage parent involvement in the education of children.
This summit will be attended by learners, school governing bodies, community organisations, community safety department and other stakeholders.
The Gauteng Legislature has conducted sight visits to many schools around the Gauteng Province and has also conducted field research which has indicated that the issues raised above are common problems raised parents, teachers and learners in our schools.
